Former RHS Basketball Coach Dick Baumgartner Passes at 85

Former RHS basketball coach and Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame member Dick Baumgartner passed away at age 85. From Jesus Jimenez at the Palladium Item, “Baumgartner was 350-135 all-time in 20 seasons as a head coach with 17 sectional titles, nine regional titles and four North Central Conference titles.” To read more from Jimenez, see his story at the Palladium Item
Baumgartner was not only known for his success at RHS, but he also held national acclaim for his basketball camps which were attended by thousands from around the country. Numerous successful college and NBA athletes worked with Baumgartner, most specifically on their shooting stroke.

Baumgartner will be remembered fondly for his numerous contributions which strengthened both Richmond Athletics and the basketball community across the country.
