Here’s the No. 9 story of the year for the Red Devils: Girls Golf Team Serves Notice
First-year coach Caleb Snyder predicted before the season that his team was young, but capable of big things. The Red Devils served notice with a season-opening win in their own Richmond Invitational and continued with a third-place finish at the sectional and spot in the regional.
All of this came with just five varsity players. More youthful talent is on the way as Richmond is set to open its 2017 season later this month.
Back will be Karissa Owens, who earned low medalist honors in the NCC meet in 2016 as a sophomore. Owens has made all-conference in both her years with the Devils.
Jacey Cornett also was an all-conference performer for Richmond, who will hope to continue to build its program with girls who have been coached by Snyder with Richmond’s intermediate golf program.
The Red Devils start the season on July 31 when they look to defend their title in the Richmond Invitational.
