The Red Devils took the field against a perennial tough Eastern Hancock team in our second contest of the season. Early in the first quarter QB Eli Ervin connected on a 40yd touchdown pass to WR Tre Lauderdale to put the Devils up 6-0. The extra point kick didn’t make it past our massive offensive line. The defense played tough in the first half and had four turnovers and kept their foes to only one touchdown. At the half, the Devils were down 7-6 but had the momentum in the game thanks to the strong efforts of our players.
The second half seemed like another team took the field. Eastern Hancock defense played tough and our offense struggled to move the ball consistently. Our team is loaded with athletes at all positions, but we must do better with consistency. The Red Devil defense gave up a long drive and Eastern Hancock punched it in to score, putting them up 14-6. The game went back and forth for the remainder of time, until the final play of the game and Eastern Hancock broke a counter for 40 yards and scored as time was expiring, putting them up 20-6.
The Red Devils put forth a strong effort and has a lot to build upon. We are currently 1-1 at the 8th grade level, with Anderson Highland at home on August 31, 2017. Make sure you come out and root on our Intermediate school athletes.
