Richmond withstood a scoreless third quarter, a last second three-pointer, and a 23-point performance from Portage’s Maurion Martin to secure a 56-52 overtime win in the quarterfinals of the Wettig Tournament on Thursday.
The Red Devils (4-5) advance to the semifinals where they will face defending Class A champion Indianapolis Tindley. The Tigers were the runner-up in last year’s tournament.
Senior Christian Harvey led Richmond with 29 points, three assists and six steals, while Kei’Shaun Clemons and Rickie Wedlow both added 10 points to finish in double figures. Junior Jordan Frye had 10 rebounds to lead a spirited effort on the glass, while Clemons chipped in six rebounds and two blocked shots.
