Richmond dropped a heart breaker to defending Class A Indianapolis Tindley in the semifinals before falling to rival Connersville in the consolation game of the annual Bob Wettig Memorial Tournament at Tiernan Center.
The Red Devils fell 63-60 to the Tigers in the afternoon game when Rickie Wedlow’s game-trying three-point attempt rattled in and out. Christian Harvey led Richmond (4-7) with 28 points, while Wedlow added 14 points on four made 3-point field goals.
Richmond struggled in the second quarter against Connersville, allowing the Spartans to bolt to a big halftime lead on their way to a 62-33 win in the evening’s consolation game. Harvey led the Devils with 14 points, while Wedlow chipped in 12.
Harvey was named to the all-tournament team for a second straight year. The senior guard averaged 25 points for the tournament.
