Richmond track athletes competed this past Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the second Hoosier State Relays qualifier at Indiana-Wesleyan University.
High points for the lady Red Devils included a jump of 15’11” for Riley Austin in long jump and a 60 m sprint time of 8.44 seconds for Lakiya Hogg. Austin currently sits at 25th in the state in the 4A-6A division, just outside the qualifying marker. She returns to action this Saturday hoping to break the 16′ barrier and make a return trip to the indoor state meet at Indiana University Bloomington on March 24th.
For the boys, Jermayne Stanley and Teddy Sumling tied for a 60 m time of 7.40 seconds, followed by freshman Gage Puterbaugh with a time of 7.45 seconds. The 4×200 m relay of Stanley, Julian Holguin, Sumling, and Alec Snedigar finished with a time of 1:38.69.
High points were found again in the long jump, with an impressive 20’5.5″ mark from Jerrell Deloney and newcomer Kody Reece putting in a jump of 19’5″. As of this writing, Deloney sits in 15th place in the 4A-6A division and hopes to solidify his standing this coming weekend at HSR #3.
The Red Devils next see action at home with an indoor friendly meet against Franklin County and Seton Catholic starting at 5:30 PM. The competitive indoor season continues Saturday at HSR Qualifier #3 at Indiana Wesleyan University starting at 10:00 AM.
