Both boys and girls track came up short in Tuesday night’s dual meet against Franklin County.
It wasn’t all bad news, however. Highlights from the Red Devils include a boys 100 meter dash sweep consisting of junior Jermayne Stanley, sophomore Teddy Sumling, and freshman Gage Puterbaugh. Sophomore Lauren Foote’s debut in the 100 meter hurdles netted her a second place finish with a time of 23:22. Junior Devon Deloney’s 17.98 second finish in the 110 meter high hurdles earned him third place for the Devils.
Red Devils also placed in the distance events. Junior Maddie Freeman scored a second place finish with her 1600 meter run time of 6:55.49. Junior Nick Weckenmann and Sophomore Josh Jones pulled in second place and third place with times of 5:11.44 and 5:19.44, respectively.
The boys 4×100 meter relay also took home first-place ribbons. The team consisted of senior Kody Reece, Gage Puterbaugh, Teddy Sumling, and Jermayne Stanley.
In the 400 meter dash, sophomore Riley Wetzel pulled in a third-place finish for the girls, while juniors Alec Snedigar and Julian Holguin pulled off second and third place, respectively, for the boys. Juniors Stefan Huber and Tim Miller made off with second and third place in the 300 meter intermediate hurdles with times of 50.55 seconds and 55.91 seconds, respectively.
Wetzel returned for a 2:58 third-place finish in the girls 800 meter run and was followed by senior Tristan Kier’s 2:23 third-place finish in the boys’ 800 meter run.
Freshman Aaliyah Porfidio-Brown made her scoring debut in the 200 meter dash with a time of 30.8 seconds, leading to a second-place finish. The boys followed this up with first-place and second-place finishes from Sumling and Stanley with times of 23.3 seconds and 23.6 seconds, respectively.
This led into the longest event of the night, the 3200 meter run, where Freeman returned to a third-place finish of 14:50 and Jones came back for a second-place finish of 11:22.
Field events were also in high gear with scoring finishes from senior Colton Davis in shot put and discus, Kody Reece and Jerrell Stanley in the long jump, Reece in high jump, Austin and Griffin in high jump, Austin in long jump, and senior Taylor Burden in shot put. Distances thrown were not included in the scoring packet from Franklin County.
The Red Devils return to action this Friday at 4:30 PM in Eaton at the Dean Stoltz Invitational.
