Both boys and girls track teams fell to Hagerstown while still taking a win over Union City on Thursday night.
Scoring relay performances for the Red Devil boys included the 4×800 meter relay team in second with a time of 9:20, the 4×100 meter relay team in first with a time of 44.21 seconds, and the 4×400 meter relay team with a time of 3:41. Individual first-place performances included junior Jermayne Stanley in the 100 meter dash and 200 meter dash, senior Kody Reece in the 400 meter dash, and junior Evan Puterbaugh in the pole vault.
Scoring relay performances for the lady Devils included the 4×800 meter relay team in second with a time of 12:43 and the 4×100 meter relay team in first with a time of 52.10 seconds. Individual first-place performances came from sophomore Riley Wetzel in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:36, and senior Riley Austin in the long jump, high jump, and 200 meter dash.
Austin, in particular, had a blue-ribbon finish with four first-place finishes overall (with her fourth coming from the 4×100 meter relay).
“Tonight was a night where we felt competitive, but the points ultimately didn’t land in our favor. Even when we put up two scorers, Hagerstown most of the night with first-place finishes. They’re a tough team to beat,” said Coach Lambright.
The Red Devils take a week off from competition, returning to action this coming Friday night (5/4) at Indiana Wesleyan University for the North Central Conference track meet.
