Boys Junior Varsity Wrestling, Boys Varsity Wrestling · Wrestling- Great Sectional Performance Sends 9 to Regional

The RHS wrestling team had a great day at the Shenandoah Sectional Saturday while sending 9 wrestlers onto the Regional.  For the first time in many years, the Red Devils fielded a full team.  This depth helped the Devils finish second as a team- just short of their goal of a team Sectional championship.

Coach Dan Capps said, “I’m so incredibly proud of this group! Even though we fell a little short of our season goal of winning Sectionals (we ended up 2nd, which is great) we were able to get 9 wrestlers through to Regionals, and have another 2 as alternates. The work that they put in throughout the season is paying off. We’re a really young team, we will be back next year, and looking to win it all.”

Those moving on for the Red Devils include-

Sectional Champion
Jake Necessary at 106

Sectional Runner Up-

Blaine Pierce at 195

Sectional Runner Up-

Sekaye Maitland at 120

Jack Guiley- 3rd at 126

Sean Alexander- 4th at 113

Clayton McFarland- 4th at 138

Julian Holguin- 4th at 170

Hunter Burden- 4th at 182

Seth Jett- 4th at 220

The Red Devils also have 2 alternates that will wrestle in the Regional if a spot becomes available- Colson Sparks at 160 and Oein Rader at 285.

Richmond hosts the Regional Saturday at the Tiernan Center.  Come out and show your support for this exceptional group of student athletes.
