IS GIRLS TRACK TEAM PLACES 1ST, BOYS PLACE 2ND vs. NORTHEASTERN and EASTERN HANCOCK

16 “Personal Records “ (PR’S)

One thing that sets our IS Boys and Girls track teams apart from other teams is their determination to improve. Yes track is a team sport, but it takes individual effort, drive and willpower for the overall team to win.

During the Triad Invitational meet on Monday, May 7th, the Girls IS Track team ran, threw and jumped past both Northeastern and Eastern Hancock with a strong win including 7 PR’S. Starting off with Akailyan Hogg placing 1st in the 200m with a PR of 28.41. Claire Reising came in a strong 3rd with a PR time of 1:12 in the 400m. Keena Barker always runs consistently strong every meet, but this meet she broke a personal record with a time of 5:57 in the 1600m. The 4×1 relay team, Tu’Shawn Farris, Anna Ream, Megan Cruise and Akailyan Hogg, blew past their previous PR 56.78 with a time of 55.34. The 4×4 Relay team, Riley Seal, Claire Reising, Shelby Bolser and Akailyan Hogg, broke their previous PR time of 5:05 with a lightening quick speed of 4:48. In the 100 Hurdles, Anna Ream placed second with a PR of 18.38 while in the same race, Riley Seal got her own PR with a time of 18.40.

Continuing with the Personal Record theme, the Boys IS team also had individual athletes who earned new PR’S. Lucas Hall gained a new PR in the 100m dash with a time of 12.31. He also PR’d in the 200m placing 1st with a time of 25.36. Gibson came up big in the 200m dash as well with a 4th place finish time of 26.50. Drew VanVleet is one of the best 800 runners I’ve seen in a long time. He guts it out each meet and leaves it all out on the track after each race. He set a new PR with a time of 2:21. Max Detharidge also set a new PR with a time of 2:29 in the 800m. Our 4×4 Relay team, Alex Antrium, Kobe Williams, Preston Bolser and Lucas Hall, continues to shock the world with a blistering PR time of 4:09. Last but surely not least is Zion Deloney who has been improving every meet. He started the season jumping 12’-8”. He PR’d with an amazing distance of 16’-2” in the Long Jump.

Friday, May 10th we travel north to compete in the Union City Invitational starting at 5:30pm. This is our last regular season meet.
