The Red Devil track team traveled to Connersville twice this week to finish out their sectional run. Thursday night the rain was to blame for the late night and caused the field participants to complete their events Friday evening.
“The rain proved difficult to deal with and slowed the times across the board for all teams. However, I’m really happy for the athletes that will be participating in regional for the first time. They’ve worked hard and really deserve this,” observed coach Gettinger.
Those receiving ribbons and scoring points for the Red Devil team total include:
Raynor Eddy and Aiden Snedigar placed 7th and 6th respectively in discus, Josh Jones placed 8th in the 1600m run, Alec Snedigar placed 5th in the 800m run. Julian Holguin and Gage Puterbaugh placed 7th and 8th respectively in the 200m dash, Koream Jett placed 5th in the high jump, Holguin also placed 5th in the 100m dash. The relay teams are always fun to watch; the 4x800m relay team of RJ Thalls, Hunter Jordan, Jake Necessary, and Alec Snedigar placed 7th while the 4x400m team of Vincent Narcisse, Darius Hogg, Snedigar, and Holguin were barely nudged out of the top three with a fourth place finish.
The battle to achieve top three status was brutal. Those getting the honors to go to regional include: Jett in long jump with 2nd place, Puterbaugh in the 100m dash with a 3rd place finish and the 4x100m relay team of Puterbaugh, Jett, Narcisse, and Holguin came in second.
The boys team will travel to Warren Central Thursday, 23rd to compete for their chance to be a state finalist.
As a reminder the girls will compete in Shelbyville for their chance on Tuesday the 21st.
Note- The end of season track banquet is rescheduled for Friday the 24th at 4pm.
