The Richmond cross country team traveled to Carmel, IN for the 2019 Indiana Middle School State Championship this weekend. There were about 300 runners in the boys’ race and about 200 runners in the girls’.
The boys’ team finished 35th in the big school boys race. We had several great performances this weekend. Overall, this was one of our best showings as a team. AJ Carter had a huge PR and was in the top 5 for Richmond for the first time ever. He improved his PR by 1 minute. Malachai Moore and Josh Gilbert also had PRs. Another notable moment was Tommy Wilson running another huge PR by 1:30. Great job everyone!
The Richmond finishers include:
Jamie Pegg, 11:40 Isaiah Moore, 12:38
Alex Orihuela, 11:53 Brodie Morken, 12:41
Greyson Farmer, 12:26 Malachai Moore, 13:15
AJ Carter, 12:29 Josh Gilbert, 14:12
Ethan Newton, 12:36 Tommy Wilson, 15:04
Keena Barker was the only girl to qualify for the state meet this year. She had a spectacular performance as well! She finished in the top 100 runners as a 7th grader. Keena placed 54th overall with a PR time of 12:15.4. Last year she finished in 194th.
We still have one more meet this season. We will run against Connersville on Tuesday, October 8th for our last meet. Run Race Richmond!
