Registration is now available for the 2019-20 Richmond Basketball League.

The league is open to students grades K-6. A description of each league is available below.

Registration ends on Thursday, Oct. 24.

Cost is $50 per player and includes a jersey and free admission to all non-tournament Richmond boys basketball games this season. Players will also have the opportunity to play on a varsity game night.

There will be in-person registration on the following dates from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Tiernan Center lobby:  Oct. 8, Oct. 10, Oct. 21, Oct. 22, Oct. 23, and Oct. 24.  Richmond boys basketball staff members will be present to answer any questions.  Forms, which students received in their folders at school, can also be dropped off at the high school or mailed. Make checks payable to “RBL: The Future”.

Coaches are needed for the 3/4 grade league and the 5/6 grade league.

League descriptions

Little Devils (Grades K-1):  Boys and girls in the Little Devils program will take part in five hour-long clinics hosted by varsity basketball coaches and players. The emphasis will be on learning introductory basketball skills like ball handling, passing, shooting, and defense. Little Devils will receive a t-shirt. Little Devils dates will be held from 8:30-9:30 on all November Saturday mornings.

Second-grade league:  Boys and girls will play together in a Saturday morning league designed to move beyond the basic skills from the Little Devils clinics. Games will take place using 8-foot goals in a controlled scrimmage format. Teams will be coached by varsity Red Devil players and directed by Richmond’s boys coaching staff. The league will always be held on Saturday mornings (Dec. 7, Dec. 14, Dec. 21, Jan. 4, Jan. 11, Jan. 18). Players will receive jerseys and have the chance to play at halftime on a varsity game night. There is no “game admission” for the Saturday morning league.

3rd/4th grade league:  Players will be divided into teams that will practice at the Tiernan Center during the week. The league will feature divisional play, a 10-game regular season, and a tournament. All players will have free admission to non-tournament home varsity boys basketball games. Trophies and medals will be awarded during the league. Games will be officiated by Richmond boys basketball staff and players. Game admission for non-players will be charged.

5th/6th grade league:  Players will be divided into teams that will practice at the Tiernan Center during the week. The league will feature divisional play, a 10-game regular season, and a tournament. All players will have free admission to non-tournament home varsity boys basketball games. Trophies and medals will be awarded during the league.  Games will be officiated by Richmond boys basketball staff and players. Game admission for non-players will be charged.
