While some rested, your Red Devil Men’s Swimming and Diving Team stayed busy in order to turn out some fast times just in time for Christmas.
The boys were able to secure second place at the Connersville Invitational behind the mammoth East Central Swimming and Diving on December 20th. The Richmond Boys were lead by best times from Josh Jones, finishing the 200 Freestyle at a 1:59.39, Dustin Wilson, finishing the 100 Freestyle at a 51.45, and the 400 Freestyle Relay composed of Jones, Wilson, Smith, and Quinn finishing second with a time of 3:35.14.
Taking home some smiles and hardware, Richmond laid in dormant until their travel to New Castle which ended in a crushing 121-59 victory for the Richmond boys team. A meet of experimentation and experience lead to 11 won events over New Castle and another opportunity of fruitful victory to keep the winning streak over New Castle going.
The boys ended their road trip at Miami University on January 4th to tackle the Brave Invitational. Fast times in a fast pool lead to a 5th place finish for the boys with best times posted by RJ Thalls with a 1:00.05 in the 100 Freestyle, a 1:57.25 in the 200 Freestyle and 5:20.78 in the 500 Freestyle courtesy of Josh Jones, and double best times in the 100 Backstroke by Noah McClain bringing in a 1:22.20 and Sam Bowersock with a 1:13.03.
Widening the eyes and minds of those inexperienced with the sport and fortifying the expectations of the incumbent swimmers and divers of the competition and times that can be found at a Division 1 pool, the Red Devil Boys set their sights on NCC held at Purdue University on January 11th.
