Cleevas Craig scored 17 points and added 10 rebounds to help Richmond to a 50-36 season-ending win at Franklin County on Thursday.
The 6’8 center was 7-of-8 from the field with five dunks as the Red Devils methodically pulled away from a Wildcat team that used a variety of zone defenses to stay within striking distance.
Craig added two steals and a blocked shot for Richmond, who shot 13-of-20 from two-point range in the game. Jordan Stolle made a game-high three 3-point shots on his way to 11 points to join Craig in double figures. The senior forward also chipped in four rebounds and two steals.
The Devils led after every quarter and never trailed by fewer than seven points in the second half against the pesky Franklin County (8-12) team.
The victory marked Richmond’s 11th straight and pushed the Red Devils overall record to 16-7 entering next week’s Class 4A sectional at Muncie Central. Richmond will play against Greenfield-Central in the second game on Wednesday night at the historic Walnut Street Fieldhouse.
Tylan Harris and Koream Jett each chipped in eight points apiece for Richmond, while senior guard Tytan Newton had a game-high seven assists to go with his six points.
Richmond’s junior varsity team closed out its season with a 42-29 win against the Wildcats to improve to 9-11 on the year. Sophomore Marquis Johnson led the Devils with 17 points, while Dorian Hill chipped in 13.
