The IS cross country team competed in the Randolph Southern Invitational to conclude a busy week for the Red Devils. The race was run in heats with different teams starting at different times to promote social distancing.
The boys finished 6th out of 12 teams. Xavier Ogle paced the team and finished 10th out of the 96 individuals. AJ Carter (31), Broadie Morken (52), Josh Gilbert (53), and Malachi Moore (57) rounded out the scoring for Richmond.
The girls finished 12th out of 13 teams. Keena Barker, coming off of her Wayne County victory, finished 5th out of 93 runners. Sophie Reising (52), Katy Peacock (59), Clara Noxon (73), and Evelyn Goss (79) rounded out the scoring for Richmond. Four of the 7 Richmond runners are 6th graders, so we are excited about the future of the team!
Coach Sybil Roseboro reflected on the meet,”RCS IS is making improvements everyday. Each meet I encourage my runners to focus on self improvement and to simply get better everyday! Our boys placed 6th of 12 teams which is great. Malachi Moore PR this meet. Xavier Ogle came in 10th of 96 runners, which I am very proud of. RCS IS girls team is still making our way to make placements in the meets we compete in! Congratulations to New Castle on their win!”
You can catch the cross country team at the Glen Miller golf course Thursday night as they run against Union County. Fans will need to wear masks and social distance. We hope to see you this week!
