Richmond connected on nine 3-pointers and withstood a furious rally on Saturday night at Tiernan Center in knocking off Connersville 49-43.
Ty Harris led the host Red Devils (2-3) with 16 points, while junior Dorian Hill chipped in 13 points, including a pair of free throws late in the game to squelch a Spartan comeback attempt.
Richmond led throughout the night, pushing the margin as high as 16 points in the third quarter, before the Spartans (3-2) trimmed the lead all the way to three points in the closing minutes.
Stephan Douglas added 11 points for the Devils, while Chase Newton had nine points.
It was a bounce back win for Richmond, who fell Friday at Indianapolis Tech. Harris had 21 points and Douglas had 15 points in the loss.
Richmond’s junior varsity fell in a tightly contested 50-40 game. Gunner Kovach led the Devils with 18 points, while Ryder Cate chipped in 10 points.
The Red Devils have added a game on Dec. 22. Richmond will travel to face Lebanon for a 5 p.m. start.
