On Saturday January 9, the Red Devils took a long bus trip up to Lafayette Jefferson to compete in the North Central Conference Championship Meet. NCC looked a little different this year with a new location, no spectators, face masks, and so on. The Red Devils didn’t let the changes get to them because the Red Devils showed up rested, suited up and ready to swim fast against Anderson, Muncie Central, Kokomo, Marion, Harrison, McCutcheon, Logansport, and Lafayette Jefferson.
The Red Devil killed it with finishing 3rd place overall as a team.
The Red Devils had two swimmers destroy the competition and become NCC Champions: Cayden Lindahl in the 200 Individual Medley being seated at a 2:11.55 dropped to a 2:05.04 and Ben Quinn in the 500 Freestyle being seated at a 5:10.69, dropped to 4:58.58.
The Red Devils had 24 races at Conference, out of those 24 races the Red Devils had 19 best times. Those Red Devils who had best times were the relay team of Landon Smith, Ben Quinn, Cayden Lindahl and Zavier Mills (200 Medley Relay & 400 Free Relay), Miles Roberts (200 Free & 500 Free), Ethan Cordova (200 Free & 500 Free), Ben Quinn (200 Free & 500 Free), Payne Forrest (200 Individual Medley & 100 Butterfly), Cayden Lindahl (200 Individual Medley & 100 Breaststroke), Jesse Lane (50 Free), Zavier Mills (50 Free), Landon Smith (100 Butterfly & 100 Backstroke), RJ Thalls (100 Free & 100 Breaststroke), and Kelly Kerstetter (100 Backstroke). Can’t wait to see what these Red Devils do the rest of the season.
The Red Devils take on Muncie Burris next at home January 12.
