The Richmond Red Devils girls track team took fifth place Saturday. 


The meet kicked off with major points in the field events. Molly O’Brien took first place in the discus with a 102’0” throw to put the Devils on the board. O’Brien nabbed another score in the shot put, tying Sophia Laughlin-Foster at a best throw of 31’8.5” for fourth place. 


In the jumps, Mary-Alice Zaleski tied for sixth place in the long jump with a 13’0” jump. Tu’Shawn Farris joined her in scoring with an eighth-place jump of 12’10”. Zaleski returned to score in fifth in the high jump with a best jump of 4’10”. She was beaten out in fourth by her teammate Jayci Allen at the same height, with the tie broken based on the number of attempts to clear the height. 


The girls 4×800 meter relay team of Vanya Sanchez-Castillo, Lily Schamel, Lydia Casiano, and Claire Reising opened the running events with a fourth-place finish and personal record of 11:09.75. 


The sprints came in quick succession after the 4×800, with Kinsey Bosell earning eighth-place honors with a 19.44 second time in the 100 meter hurdles. Tu’Shawn Farris returned from the jumps to score sixth place in the 100 meter dash with a 13.75 second sprint. The Devils 4×100 meter relay team of Farris, Aaliyah Porfidio-Brown, Tamia Hampton, and Loni Eubanks finished in fourth place with a time of 54.46. In the 400 meter dash, Claire Reising won eighth place with a time of 1:09.28. Wrapping up the individual sprint events, Elizabeth Graham and Tamia Hampton took seventh and eighth in the 200 meter dash with times of 29.30 and 30.50. 


In the distance races, Lily Schamel sneaked into eighth place with a time of 6:37.71 in the 1600 meter run. The Devils scored twice in the 800 meter run, with Lydia Casiano and Vanya Sanchez-Castillo earning sixth- and eighth-place honors with times of 2:50.63 and 2:51.75, respectively. Freshman Allison Stout broke into a scoring position with a 14:59.52 in the 3200 meter run. 


The meet wrapped up with the 4×400 meter relay. Richmond’s team of Jayci Allen, Madeline Stults, Vanya Sanchez-Castillo, and Claire Reising ran a 4:50.28 to take fifth place in the final event of the meet. 


The Red Devils return to action with a short turnaround on Monday at Union City in a four-way meet against Randolph Southern and Blackford.
