Richmond came out on top Monday night in Union City at the quad meet against Union City, Blackford, and Randolph Southern. 


The boys kicked off the running events with a decisive win in the 4×800 meter relay. Alex Orihuela, RJ Thalls, and Jake Necessary contributed to a first-place PR of 9:18.3 seconds thanks in part to a massive 2:12 split PR from Ivan Orihuela. 


The distance team continued to add to the point total in a great night for the Orihuela brothers. Alex and Ivan took first and third in the 1600 meter run with respective times of 5:01.68 and 5:04.78. The brothers traded off in the 3200 meter run, with Ivan placing first at a time of 11:18.43 and Alex taking fourth with a time of 11:40.78. The Distance Devils took second and third in the 800 meter run, with Jake Necessary at a time of 2:23.28 and Hunter Jordan at a time of 2:26.59. 


In the sprints, Marquis Johnson took first place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.84 seconds. According to the results, Lucas Hall took fifth place in a three-way tie at 12 seconds flat. In the 200, Marquis Johnson placed in first with a timing error preventing an accurate finish time. Lucas Hall took fourth in the 200 with a time of 23.42 seconds. The 4×100 meter relay team of Lucas Hall, Anthony Cross, Phoenix Michaels, and Marquis Johnson placed first with a time of 45.28 seconds. In the 400 meter dash, Darius Hogg put up a PR of 53.81 seconds, followed by Alex Antrim in third place with a time of 1:00.78. Senior Owen Rogers make his mark in the 300 hurdles with a fourth-place finish at 56.47 seconds. 


In the field events, Anthony Cross took an uncontested first-place jump at 5’4” to score major points for the Red Devils. The long jump tag-team of Marquis Johnson and Sekaye Rogers went one-two with jumps of 19’5.5” and 17’11”. In the shot put, Dalton Wall and Jason Pitts also took first and second, with respective throws of 40’4” and 36’5”. The Devils placed in second and third in the discus throw with best throws of 114’6” for Aiden Snedigar and 103’8” for Trevor Neeley. 


The Red Devil runners wrapped up the running events in the final event of the night with a third-place finish from the 4×400 meter relay team of Darius Hogg, Ethan Newton, Alex Antrim, and Hunter Jordan at a time of 3:54.75, including a 57-second PR split from Newton. 


Times for non-scoring athletes were not provided by Union City. The boys track team returns to action this Friday in Lafayette in the North Central Conference meet.
