Early Lead For Shenandoah Seals Fate For Red Devils
Richmond fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 5-1 loss at Shenandoah on Monday. Shenandoah took the lead on a wild pitch in the first inning.
The Red Devils got things moving in the first inning when Hayden Scalf singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
Blake Surface got the start for Shenandoah. The bulldog surrendered one run on two hits over three and two-thirds innings, striking out nine.
Colton Fox was on the mound for Richmond. The righthander went five innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out four. Nick Whalen threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.
Scalf, James Weigel, and Fox all had one hit to lead Richmond.
Jobe Robinson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Shenandoah in hits.
The Red Devils play Union County on the road Thursday at the home of the Dayton Dragons.
