RICHMOND FOOTBALL | FINAL SOUTH DEARBORN 21 RICHMOND 19 The Red Devils came up short on Homecoming night at Lyboult Field, falling 21-19 to South Dearborn. Richmond struck first when Thomas Stargell scored on a 5-yard touchdown run to give the Red Devils a 6-0 first-quarter lead. After South Dearborn scored 21 unanswered points, Richmond continued to battle. In the fourth quarter, Thomas Stargell connected with Syn’Cere Russell for a 46-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to eight. OFFENSIVE HIGHLIGHTS Thomas Stargell — 7-of-16 passing, 140 yards and 2 TD; added 47rushing yards Syn’Cere Russell — 4 receptions, 117 yards and 1 TD Daniel Gammage — 9 carries for 75 yards, including a 50-yard run Richmond outgained South Dearborn 262-166 in total offense, including advantages of 140-91 through the air and 122-75 on the ground. The Red Devils also converted 4-of-10 third downs and 2-of-3 fourth downs. Turnovers proved costly, however, as Richmond committed four turnovers, including an interception returned for a South Dearborn touchdown.
