🎾 RED DEVILS TENNIS | NCC SWEEP! RICHMOND 5 | MARION 0 CLUTCH WHEN IT MATTERED! Richmond Boys Tennis swept NCC opponent Marion 5-0 Tuesday night, but the final score doesn’t tell the full story. Three matches required dramatic rallies as the Red Devils repeatedly delivered under pressure. Joel Zajdel made his varsity debut, one to remember! After an outstanding JV season, Zajdel stepped into the No. 3 singles position and earned a convincing 6-2, 6-1 victory. Miguel Mira-Galeano and Samuel Diaz Forero were dominant at No. 2 doubles, winning 6-0, 6-1. Then came the drama. Baltazar Torres-Mejia won his opening set 6-2 before falling behind 2-5 in the second. He battled all the way back and captured the set 7-6, dominating the tiebreaker 7-1. Tej Patel dropped his opening set 5-7 at No. 2 singles before responding with a 6-3 second-set victory and another clutch performance in the deciding tiebreaker, winning 10-7. At No. 1 doubles, Mason Wetzel and James Scherer faced an even bigger comeback. After dropping the opening set in a tiebreaker and falling behind 1-4 in the second, the duo stormed back to win 6-4 and then captured the deciding tiebreaker 10-5. SWEEP COMPLETE. 5-0. Less than 24 hours after earning a 5-0 NCC sweep over Marion, Richmond Boys Tennis is back on the road TODAY to take on Blue River Valley.
