Finding ourselves on the wrong side of a one point game, the 8th grade Test Tigers fall to New Castle 39 – 38. That’s a hard loss to swallow especially knowing it was in our hands nursing a 4 point lead with 2 ½ minutes to go. As a coach after the game you try to think of anything that could have been done differently, a personnel change, or an offensive/ defensive set change.
However, with a strong start to the game scoring 14 points in the first quarter and maintaining a slight lead most of the game it came down to execution, to mentally and physically take care of the ball. Only scoring 3 points in the 4th makes it tough on you and you must get stops. Still battling until the end, the scoring was a little more spread out as Zion Deloney lead the Tigers scoring with 12 points followed by Ryder Cate’s 11. Also adding to the point column was Kobe Williams 6, Braiden Hogg’s 4, with Cedric Horton and Lanier Smithson rounding it out with 3 each.
The Tigers left 9 points at the charity stripe. What does all this mean? It’s early. As long as we learn something every time we step on the court, win or lose, we will be successful. Now back to work to get ready for Driver Middle-school on Tuesday night. GO TIGERS!!!!!
