Richmond Boys Golf finished 6th place in a very strong field at the Yorktown Invitational. The invite was played at The Players Club in Muncie, IN; a tough course where the team hopes to qualify later on for the State Regional.
Richmond got off to a bit of a rough start with players struggling on their first few holes, but showed major growth from last season with their mental fortitude.
The team went on a stretch where they no longer allowed big numbers, instead getting pars and bogeys and really settling into their games.
Richmond finished with a team score of 350, good enough for 6th place. The 350 sets a solid base number for the team to build off of this early in the season.
Noblesville won (300) the Yorktown Invitational, led by an impressive 7-under, bogey free round of 65 by Clay Merchant.
Richmond is back on the course Tuesday against Jay County at Portland Country Club. They return home for the Joe Moehring Invitational Saturday the 13th where they look to win their first invitational of the year.
