Richmond’s JV Girls Basketball team played in a tough match-up Wednesday night against the Muncie Bearcats.
The Bearcats jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead on the Red Devils with J. Brandenburg being the only Richmond player to score in the first seven minutes.
The second quarter did not prove to be much different for the young team, with Muncie extending the lead 20-6 going into half time.
Out of the locker room, Coach Farris and Coach Wright gathered their team and got some buy in from the Red Devils. P. Morken would lead the charge in the third with five points. The girls would break even in scoring with the Bearcats rolling into the last quarter.
Carried still by their third quarter surge, the Red Devils continued to roll in the last seven minutes outscoring the Bearcats seven to two. Unfortunately, it would not be enough to take the lead. However, it was a huge step in the right direction for this young squad.
The Red Devils had a balanced effort tonight in the scoring column. Morken and Wethington both led the charge with five a piece, Callahan chipped in four, while Lakes, Brandenburg, and Ferrer-Benito all added two.
The JV team will be back in action on January 8th.
