RHS Girls Basketball opened their season against New Castle on November 5th in the Tiernan Center. The game was off to a close start with Richmond ahead by three at the end of the first quarter. A couple of triples by New Castle kept the game close going into the second. Richmond however was not backing down. The Red Devils extended their lead to 26-10 at halftime. Sophomore Jakaia Lotz led first half scoring with 10 points, eight of which game from the stripe. This set the pace for the rest of the game where seven Red Devils found the scoring column. Scoring was led by Jakaia Lotz who posted a double-double of ten rebounds and 21 points. Lotz was followed by Ajah Orr, Alayha Allen, and Jayci Allen who all pitched in 7 a piece. Alayha Allen snagged nine boards. Final score: 23-26. The Red Devils start their season 1-0 and are back in action tomorrow at Union City High School.
The JV Red Devils also found themselves in the winning column on Tuesday night. The team effort forged Richmond to and early lead against the Trojans. Scoring was led by freshman Kam Wright. Chipping in on the boards was Molly O’Brien and sparking the defense was Paighton Morken. They too are back in action tomorrow against Union City. JV tips at 6pm.
