Saturday afternoon the Red Devils faced Muncie Central and picked up their first win of the season. This win was not only the first for Coach Hillard, but is being dedicated as the 100th win for former Red Devils Coach, Coach Casey Pohlenz.
Offense was sparked by freshman Jakaia Lotz and before long Richmond found themselves leading by four at the end of the first. Despite many attempts from behind the arc for the Bearcats, the Red Devils’ relentless pursuit of the paint put them up 12 at half time.
Richmond continued its roll into the third quarter as well leading by 22 going into the fourth. In the fourth they continued to build their lead until the final buzzer. The 50% shooting by the Red Devils in the second half was too much for the Bearcats. Final score: Richmond 52- Muncie 25.
The Red Devils were led in scoring by sophomore Ajah Orr with 16 and freshman Jakaia Lotz with 15. Sophomore Alayha Allen pulled down 9 boards.
The Red Devils are back in action on Tuesday at Rushville.
