Tuesday night the Red Devils hosted Connersville High School in the Tiernan Center. Richmond jumped out to a 19-14 lead to end the first quarter. With limited turnovers, and some easy buckets inside, the Red Devils were off to a good start. The second quarter turned to be in the Spartans favor however with their guards knocking down 4 of 11 behind the arc attempts. Connersville would lead by seven going into the half. Out of the intermission, the Red Devils turned the ball over on their first three possessions leading to easy Spartan buckets. By the end of the third, the Spartans were up nineteen. Although the Red Devils tried to claw back into the game, Connersville was able to keep their lead finishing the game 58 to Richmond’s 35. RHS was led in scoring by sophomore Alayha Allen with 12, senior Kierra Wright with 9, and freshman Jakaia Lotz with 8. The Red Devils are back in action Saturday afternoon where they will host Harrison.
The young JV Red Devils also struggled against Connersville. The game was kept close throughout the first half, but they too would fall to the Spartans. Scoring for Richmond JV was led by sophomore Abby Brewer with 6 and freshman Jayci Allen with 5.
