Saturday the Red Devils hosted Northmont High School out of Clayton, Ohio. The game was off to a good start with buckets being produced by both the Red Devils and the Bolts. First quarter ended with the Red Devils only down two. Second quarter found Richmond struggling to handle the ball and to score. The Bolts capitalized on the turnovers putting themselves up 18 at the half. Third quarter came, and sophomore Alayha Allen was able to connect for six of her seven total points, but it was not enough to forge the Red Devils ahead. In the last quarter it was senior Kierra Wright’s turn to show off her shooting skills including a pair of quick triples. This too was still not enough to outscore the Northmont Bolts. The Red Devils would drop the contest 35-61 in their last regular season contest. Leading the Red Devil scoring was senior Kierra Wright with 13 and sophomore Alayha Allen with 7. Chipping in with 9 boards was freshman Jakaia Lotz. Their next game will be at Mt. Vernon High School facing the Greenfield Cougars in the first round of sectional matchups.
JV also had a tough game on Saturday afternoon resulting in a loss to the Bolts. This ended the hard fought season for our young players. Each girl has contributed to the program and gotten better despite their seasonal record and we are proud of our young JV squad.
