Tuesday night the Red Devils hosted the Union City Indians. Richmond came out with momentum and put up a 7-0 run. The Indians however were resilient and clawed back into the game. At the end of the first quarter the game was all tied up.
Going into the second, momentum shifted and this time Union City took the lead. After a 53% shooting first half, the Indians led by 13 going into the break.
In the third quarter both teams connected on another 12 points each, thus resulting in the Red Devils being down 13 heading into the final eight minutes.
The Red Devils however wouldn’t give up. They stepped up their defensive play and applied pressure to the Indian’s guards. The Red Devils were able to bring the game within 2 points with less than a minute left to play. Although Richmond outscored Union City 22-12 in the fourth, the Indians knocked down a couple free throws to seal the win.
The final score was 61-58 in favor of the Indians.
Scoring was led for Richmond by senior Kierra Wright with 19, and sophomores Alayha Allen and Ajah Orr both with 12 a piece.
The Red Devils are back in action against Muncie on Saturday afternoon in the Tiernan Center.
