In the final game of the Tipton Holiday Tournament, Richmond found themselves in a rematch with Jennings County for the championship trophy. Hungry for revenge, the Red Devils got off to a 12-7 lead to end the first quarter. The Panthers tried to find the scoring column, but the efforts continued to fall short behind a couple of triples by Red Devils Kenzie Wert and Jayci Allen. This would extend Richmond’s lead to ten going into halftime.
The balanced team effort kept Richmond rolling coming out of the locker room. The Red Devils matched every bucket the Panthers scored, keeping their lead of ten going into the final eight minutes. Jennings County however, would not go down without a fight. The Panthers would hit four from behind the arc to close in on Richmond’s lead. Despite their efforts, the Panthers were forced to foul in the last minute of the game sending several Richmond players to the stripe. Molly Morken and Ajah Orr knocked down a couple of freebies to help seal the deal for Richmond. The anticipated rematch would end in a 46-43 victory for the Red Devils.
In a balanced team effort, Jakaia Lotz led all Red Devils with 13 points. She was followed by Wert with 11, J. Allen with 9, and A. Allen with 8. Ajah Orr led in assists, while Alayha Allen pulled down ten boards.
The team will be back in action on January 10th in the Tiernan against Marion.
