The Red Devils were back to full strength on Friday night as they faced the Kokomo Wildcats on Lingle Court at IU East.
Off to a slow start, the Wildcats took the lead quickly as the Red Devils struggled to score. Richmond however, made a late quarter run, pulling themselves within one point of Kokomo to end the first. Junior guard Kenzie Wert knocked down three triples from the right corner to help the Red Devils forge past the Wildcats’ lead early in the second. At the three minute mark of the first half, Richmond slowed down the game by dribbling out the clock to secure a seven point lead going into the break.
Out of the locker room, Kokomo went on an 8-4 run to close in on the Red Devils. The Wildcats would only trail by three going into the final seven minutes. Missed free throws and decreased shot attempts by Richmond, helped the Wildcats keep in the close contest. The matchup would come down to the final couple of minutes were Richmond would eventually pull back ahead of the Wildcats clinching the NCC win 29-25. Leading all Red Devils scorers was Wert with 11 followed by Lotz with 9 and Orr with 5.
In JV action the Red Devils fell to a scrappy Wildcat team 16-43. Despite playing tough on both ends of the court the whole game, the Red Devils just could not find scoring of the their own. Kamryn Wright led the young Red Devils with 11.
