This past Tuesday the Red Devils headed to Connersville to take on the Lady Spartans. Despite still missing two starters, the team rallied together to add a win to their record.

The first quarter proved to be a struggle for the Red Devils. They were getting open looks, but having a hard time connecting on any attempt. Richmond spent most of the first seven minutes trailing the Spartans until the final seconds when senior Molly Morken drained a three pointer to send the Red Devils ahead by one.

In the second quarter, the Red Devils kept their momentum going. Sophomore Jayci Allen ran the offense, while junior Kenzie Wert drained shots from behind the arc. Wert led the team the first half with nine sending the Red Devils into the locker room up five at the half.

Out of the locker room the Spartans began to make a run closing in on the Red Devil lead. Despite their efforts they still trailed with three going into the final seven minutes. In the last quarter, senior Molly Morken stepped up and nailed crucial free throws helping to clinch a Red Devil victory 48-45.

Richmond scoring was balanced among all five starters. Kenzie Wert led the way with 17 hitting 5 of 6 from three point range. Molly Morken followed with 12, knocking down 7 for 8 free throw followed by Lotz with 9, Brewer with 6. and J.Allen with 4. Junior forward Abby Brewer also pulled down 9 rebounds. The Red Devils are back in action Saturday as they travel to Harrison.

In JV action the Red Devils put up a tough contest against the Spartans as well. Many turnovers and missed attempts put Richmond behind 2-15 going into the half. The young Red Devils though found some grit coming out of the locker room, as they rallied together to pull within six of the Spartans going into the final quarter. Connersville however fought to keep their lead eventually defeating the Red Devils 33-23.

JV scoring for the Red Devils was led by Kamryn Wright with 9 followed by Paighton Morken with 7. They too are back in action Saturday at Harrison.
