The 2019 season opener for the Richmond Red Devils baseball program took place on Tuesday, March 26th. It seemed to be heading in the right direction with the hosts leading 2-1 going into the seventh inning. Then, fortunes changed for both teams. Hagerstown put together a three-run rally in the top half of the inning in securing the victory for the visiting Tigers.
Camden Rhoades and Cody Swimm each picked up three hits in leading Hagerstown to the 4-2 victory.
The Red Devils were led offensively by seniors Josiah Sizemore (1-for-4, double, rbi), Mason Brewer (1-for-3, run scored), Brice Brown (1-for-1, rbi, bb), and Phillip Hobbs (1-for-4, run scored) and freshman Nick Turner (1-for-2, bb).
Brady McMillan (1-0) earned the victory on the mound for Hagerstown. Junior George Dickman (0-1) picked up the loss for the Red Devils.
Richmond will get back to the diamond tomorrow evening as it hosts Connersville in a non-conference game beginning at 5pm at McBride Stadium.
