Test Tigers Trip Titans
In a sweltering 90 degree sauna the 7th grade Tigers of Test met up with the Titans of Muncie Northside for the hottest volleyball match up of the season. It was so hot that walking into the gym was the warm up. The Northsiders always present a strong challenge when these two programs get together.
Game one of the clash proved to be a serving contest. If your team could serve the ball in the court, you were going to win the point. Consequently, it was feast or famine. The game started out with both teams exchanging multiple sideouts. Early service errors created a deficit that the young felines had to recover from. Kami Hardwick took her turn at the line and was quite successful. She confidently and competently scored four quick points to even the score at 13-13. After exchanging sideouts, Neveah Rice added five more to push the Tigers ahead, 19-14. Another series of sideouts and the Test victory was secured at 25-18.
The second game proved to be a battle of wills with both teams refusing to lose. Amiah Ray put three on the board for the Tigers and Ta’Layah Pegg added two more. The Titans responded with five of their own and kept the score tight. The Titans then served a series of points to create separation. A series of back to back bad passes allowed the Titans to gain control of the game. This lead quickly evaporated when Destiny Smith rotated back to serve and she delivered six consecutive points for the Tigers. Sideouts by both teams tied the score at 24-24 and a service ace won the second game for the Titans 25-24.
The third and deciding game was evenly played for the first three rotations with the Titans holding a two point, 9-7 advantage. Kami Hardwick stepped back to the line and delivered not one or two but eight consecutive points and the 15-9 game three win for the Tigers. This puts the 7th graders at two wins and one loss for the season. On Thursday, the Tigers host the Tigers of Hagerstown in a battle for feline supremacy. Come out and enjoy an evening of Tiger volleyball. It’s GRRRRRRREAT!!!!
